Reagan spends a week at home and disrupts Chris’ routine with Amy and his social life in the neighborhood. Elsewhere, Ava gives Kevin’s daughter vocal lessons in an attempt to win her favor.

Reagan has trouble firing her under-performing assistant (Molly Shannon), causing Ava to question if Reagan’s lost her edge. Elsewhere, Chris and Reagan look for a babysitter.

Reagan and Chris go on a date to rekindle their romance, while Ava babysits Amy. During the evening, Ava meets a single dad (Jason Lee) who proves to be quite different from her boyfriend (Chris Diamantopoulos).

A look back at Amy’s birth includes Reagan trying to cope with her delivery plans going awry and Chris struggling with the idea of leaving his job at a law firm. Ava, meanwhile, tries to circumvent the fears that are driving Reagan and her apart.

Reagan and Chris look for a family car that’s not too boring, and Chris goes into negotiating mode. Elsewhere, Ava wants to cover more serious topics on her show but isn’t happy about the work that goes into doing it.

Reagan and Chris take an interest in their hip new neighbors. Elsewhere, Ava is upset that Amy doesn’t like her and seems to prefer Calvin.
